Senior Appointment To Manage Hilton`s Health Club Growth In Australia

Andy Potter has been appointed Finance and Development Director of LivingWell Australia Pty Ltd, part of the LivingWell health club division of Hilton Group plc.
Thirty one year old Andy will be responsible for finance and the development of the LivingWell brand across Australia, both organically and through acquisition.

Reporting to LivingWell`s new MD Paul Harvey, Andy has held a number of senior positions during his eight years with the company, most recently as International Development Manager, Europe.

“Although we already have five clubs established in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, three have only recently opened and so an immediate priority is to maximise the potential of these clubs,” said Andy.

“My longer term focus will be to help establish LivingWell as the preferred health and fitness operator in the four star market and identify expansion and acquisition opportunities.

Hilton has nine hotels in the region, and this enables us to benefit massively in terms of infrastructure and support and having a world recognised and trusted brand behind you certainly opens doors.”

The Australian fitness market is as well established as the UK market, with health and fitness participation running at around 8 per cent of the population.

LivingWell research has identified that Australia`s primary cities have strong demographics to support a four star operator however there is currently no established brand in this marketplace.

Andy will be taking up his new appointment in November, based at LivingWell`s corporate offices in Sydney, and will be relocating with his family.

LivingWell acquired a chain of three stand-alone clubs in February 2001. Based in Sydney and Brisbane, the clubs were formally owned by the Christies Group.

LivingWell subsequently opened a club in the Hilton Melbourne Airport (May 2001), and has just opened the largest standalone Premier club in its international portfolio in Carindale, Brisbane.
