Cybele Receives International Nomination

CYBELE FOREST LODGE AND SPA, set in 300 acres of forest near White River in Mpumalanga, South Africa, has been honoured by being nominated by the UK Sunday Times as one of the Greatest Little Hotels in the World. Cybele is the only hotel in Africa to have been nominated.
The owners of Cybele, Rupert and Barbara Jeffries, have certainly earned this new accolade for their forest paradise, having performed major upgrades and transformations since Cybele’s original launch in 1979, the most recent including major refurbishments in the main homestead and dining room, pools, suites and, of course, the launch of its exclusive wellness centre, The Spa in the Forest late in 2001.
Cybele was also upgraded to a Yellow Shield, categorised as a property with ‘the refined comfort of a magnificent residence’ by Relais & Ch‰teaux, replacing the Relais & Ch‰teaux Southern Africa and Indian Ocean Blue Shield.
Another feather in the Cybele cap is the recent notification of a 2002 Diners Club Winelist of the Year merit award.
Cybele is well-known for its culinary delights and weight-watching guests are also well catered for.
Guest quarters at Cybele comprise studios, cottages and suites - some with additional sleeping lofts, private walled patios, gardens and even one with a private sauna! The 6 suites sport their own private swimming pools, offering breathtaking views of the Drakensberg, while all rooms have their own log-fire places. The luxuriously overstuffed furniture, antiques, art and exquisite fabrics add to the perfect ambience.
