Rocco Forte Hotels are pleased to announce the opening of the new conference and banqueting facilities at their St David`s Hotel & Spa in Cardiff. The addition of the Roald Dahl suite, which can be divided into two separate rooms, has doubled the hotel`s conference capacity to almost 500 people and marks a response to increased demand within the market.

The new conference suite, named after the Cardiff-born children`s author, is 243 sq m in size and can accommodate 160 for dinner or 200 theatre-style. It complements the existing Dylan Thomas suite that can accommodate 220 for dinner or 270 theatre-style and is part of the company`s latest GBP2m investment to improve the facilities within the hotel - currently listed among the top spa destinations in the UK.

Commenting on the new facilities, Debbie Taylor, General Manager, said, “This will satisfy demand for high-quality conference and banqueting facilities in the city. Cardiff is already regarded as being one of the finest conference cities in the UK and this investment reinforces its reputation. We will also now be able to offer an extended service to the local business community.”

Isabel Tapp, Director of Sales and Marketing at the hotel added that The St David`s Hotel & Spa had invested substantially in state-of-the-art audio-visual technology.

The hotel is also creating a new walkway around the 132-bedroom building, removing the metal cladding that has been present since the hotel was erected. The cladding had remained in situ while the effect on the water level of the Cardiff Bay barrage was being monitored.
