Galileo Asia Travel Network Alliance

ASIA Travel Network
Sdn Bhd (ATN) has forged an alliance with Galileo Asia Ltd, under which the latter will incorporate ATN`s business travel management system (BTMS) into its own solutions to offer its authorised travel agents.
Galileo, a subsidiary of Galileo International, will offer the recently launched BTMS, a corporate travel solution, to its travel agents under its own private label.
The initiative would put both companies in the forefront of the highly fragmented travel industry as it offered a powerful and comprehensive corporate travel solution, ATN said in a statement.
With online bookings becoming more and more popular some sources put it at as much as 32% of all business travel buying by 2003 ATN and Galileo see the arrangement as positioning them to meet the growing travel management needs in both the Asia-Pacific and global markets.
BTMS is a suite of travel management tools which can help corporate travel agents offer their customers complete control and flexibility over their travel arrangements via the Internet 24 hours a day.
In addition, these corporate customers would be able to monitor travel budgets in compliance with corporate travel policies, in areas like travel requisition, approval, reservations, payment and report generation, while allowing better management and cost savings, the statement said. “This is a pragmatic, profit-driven solid business solution where, by teaming up with (Galileo) and connecting to 42,000 travel agency locations worldwide, ATM is able to expand its global corporate businesses overnight,” ATN chairman and chief executive officer Alex Kong said.
