Amadeus has been chosen by Austravel to provide an IP infrastructure for its nine UK shops.
Austravel has been using the system since September 2000 to create a new way of working internally via VPN, enabling the company to streamline efficiency and access Amadeus` Pro Tempo reservation-booking tool throughout the organisation.
Austravel, part of the Thomson Travel Group, is a leading specialist in selling holidays and flights to Australia, New Zealand and Asia. With shops across the UK and a rapidly growing business, Austravel needed to implement a solution that would enable employees at disparate offices to access travel information in real time.
Amadeus` new IP infrastructure allows Austravel employees to access Amadeus` Pro Tempo solution and other services, including Internet access, email and a centrally located fares database, via a designated IP data line. Amadeus was also instrumental in the setup of the new Austravel online booking site.
