Genie, BT`s mobile Internet portal, and British Airways have joined forces to provide British Airways` flight availability, status and check-in services via mobile Internet.
Available now, the services are accessible exclusively through the travel area on Genie`s mobile Internet portal (wap.genie.co.uk/def/travel.wml) and through British Airways` web and WAP sites (www.britishairways.com/mobilezone and www.britishairways.com).
The deal opens up a new channel for Genie`s registered users in the UK and British Airways` customers to manage their travel arrangements and access the latest flight information wherever, whenever and whatever they are doing.
British Airways is the first airline in the UK to offer check-in via mobile Internet and the first in the world to offer WAP check-in with seat maps. The WAP check-in facility complements British Airways` existing PC-based on-line check-in service, and is currently available to UK Gold and Silver members of the airline`s frequent flyer programme, the Executive Club. It will soon be rolled out to all Executive members.
