High-speed 802.11b wireless Internet access is now available at San Jose International Airport as it becomes the first airport in California and fourth in the U.S. to offer Wayport.
The airport`s new wireless Internet service provides rapid access to the Internet from anywhere in the airport, including gate areas, without the hassle of plugging-in to a telephone data port.
Using Wayport`s wireless service simply requires a laptop and an 802.11b wireless Ethernet card. To access Wayport`s service, travellers simply turn on their laptop and launch their Internet browser. Users can send and receive email, surf the Web and access corporate networks at T1 speeds, up to 50 to 200 times faster than standard modem or cellular connections.
