Virgin Express Becomes First European Airline To Offer Ticketless Travel In Worldspan

Worldspan, the global travel technology provider and distribution system, announces that Virgin Express has become the latest fully participating carrier in the Worldspan system. The move makes Virgin Express the first airline in Europe to offer ticketless travel in Worldspan.
Neil Burrows, Managing Director of Virgin Express, says: “Our co-operation with Worldspan is a major step towards the enlargement of our distribution network. Until recently, travel agents still had to follow a less efficient procedure in order to make a booking on Virgin Express. From now on, the travel trade will be able to offer their customers and our passengers quality service and flights at affordable prices.”
Virgin Express becomes the latest airline to benefit from a series of new pricing options announced by Worldspan at the end of last year. These enable airlines participating in the Worldspan system to reduce their distribution costs significantly and enjoy the full benefits provided by today’s automation solutions.
Jesse Liebman, senior vice president and general manager Worldwide Travel Supplier Services, Worldspan, says: “Worldspan is committed to customer service and support for the industry. We are delighted to welcome Richard Branson’s low-fare airline on board. With nearly 21,000 travel agencies in over 70 countries worldwide using the Worldspan reservations system, we are able to offer Virgin Express substantially increased distribution. And for our agents, a signing with the only airline offering low-fare services on mainland Europe means new options and opportunities when selling flights to both business and leisure passengers.”
