VRX Worldwide Inc. (CDNX:VRW) announced today that its subsidiary VRX Studios Inc., a leading end-to-end content solutions provider, has entered into a renewable one year contract with CANOE.ca, a subsidiary of Quebecor Inc. (TSE: QBR.A, QBR.B). CANOE.ca, Canada’s leading news and information Web site, will integrate VRX’s entire archive of 360-degree virtual tours and proprietary mapping application into its travel section, CANOE Travel.
The archive will enable travel consumers to research vacation destinations on CANOE.ca by taking virtual tours of hundreds of attractions throughout the Caribbean and Hawaiian Islands, Mexico, the US and Canada.
CANOE.ca is one of the first portals to employ VRX’s advertising revenue share model. Under this model, VRX will create advertising space that will accompany its virtual tours and interactive maps and CANOE.ca will secure advertisers and sponsors. VRX and CANOE will share the advertising and sponsorship revenue generated. Revenues are expected to exceed those generated from VRX’s basic licensing model. CANOE Travel offers a rich mix of content and services for Canadians travelling at home and abroad making VRX’s virtual tours a perfect complement to CANOE Travel`s comprehensive editorial content. VRX’s visually rich content is designed to enhance site stickiness, traffic, and look-to-book ratios.
“VRX’s images and drill-down maps complement our existing travel content beautifully, said Paul Benedetti, Executive Producer of CANOE Travel and C-Health. “It doesn’t require any special downloads and more importantly, it actually gives users a “you-are-there feeling” that enhances the online experience.
“With almost 20 million page views per week, CANOE.ca is one of the most popular Canadian web sites,” stated David MacLaren, president and CEO of VRX Studios. “CANOE.ca knows that generating online traffic and building online customer loyalty is all about presenting fresh and innovative content while delivering the necessary information and tools consumers need to make their purchasing decisions. VRX is excited to work with CANOE.ca to meet the needs of their travel audience.”
