Australian Site Relaunch

Following recent losses, travel.com.au, Australia’s largest non-airline travel web site, plans a relaunch on 1st March.
Late last year, Amadeus Global Travel Distribution took a 19.9% stake in the site with a A$9.93 million investment.
To cut the number of people who telephone the company with their travel arrangements and to encourage more use online, the site will change its fee structure. Previously, the company gave customers a 4% discount for booking online but the company intends to widen the price differential and enforce it more strictly to position its phone booking as a premium service.
Hillier said the company`s average transaction is about A$1,300. Travel.com.au will switch from using it’s own fare database to the Amadeus system.
