More Interline E-Ticketing

SITA, the international airline communications company and IATA, the international air transportation association, have got together to develop an inter-airline e-ticketing system.
A meeting is to take place in Montreal at the end of February where plans will be formulated and it is expected that at least 2 of the 32 airlines that currently e-ticket will embark on a system test.
SITA currently provides conventional interlining technology for 270 airlines and an extension into e-ticketing is seen as the next logical move. E-ticketing provides massive cost savings for the airlines and, as a result, SITA says it expects to see around 50% of the air transportation industry using e-ticketing arrangements by 2005.
