Online business travel bookings to soar

Jupiter Media Metrix predicts that the US online business travel market will be worth USD33 billion by 2005, up from USD4 billion in 2000.Seventy percent of last year’s spending by business travelers booking online went on air travel, while 20 percent went on hotel bookings and over 9 percent on car rental.
Online hotel bookings and car rental by business travelers is predicted to take 24 percent and 12 percent of the market by 2004, respectively.
Jupiter Media Metrix says that travel agents will have to adapt to growth of the Internet as a factor in business travel and find a new role, offering support for online travel booking.
