Making another move into the European market, Atlanta-based travel technology solutions provider TRX, Inc. has joined with Swiss travel company, Kuoni, to process leisure and corporate online travel bookings in Central Europe.
TRX Central Europe, as the TRX and Kuoni venture is called, was developed to provide transaction processing tools and online customer support for the region.
“The incorporation of this new company meets a tremendous demand in this region,” said Gabriele Mayer, CEO, TRX Central Europe. “Central Europe is quickly adopting online travel, and TRX is well positioned to play a major role in this new model of booking travel in Europe.”
TRX Central Europe`s products are primarily targeted to online travel providers, airlines and major companies and corporations using online booking tools for managed travel and seeking applications and services to enhance internal online programs.
“The venture will provide automated quality control, ticketing, document distribution and invoicing services in Germany, Switzerland and, later, Austria,” Mayer said. “Central Europe is home to many global companies with significant international travel requirements and progressive approaches to technology and travel management. Our service offerings fall neatly in step with emerging marketplace demands.”
TRX and UK-based Hogg Robinson are partners in another joint venture that brings TRX`s services overseas. TRX Europe operates from the UK and also covers a number of other European markets. Among TRX Europe`s customers is British Airways which last July selected the company to handle the fulfillment of bookings for the airline`s new on-line business travel management system for small to medium sized companies. TRX handles the servicing of the bookings, including the issuing and dispatch of all tickets direct to the customers and provides off-line customer service support as well as an off-line booking service.
“Our joint venture with Kuoni is yet another example of the global capabilities of TRX applications and services,” said Trip Davis, TRX President and CEO. “Our mission remains the same with both our domestic and international relationships - to provide highly efficient, cost-effective services behind-the-scenes, enabling our clients to focus on their core business and build enterprise value.”
The Kuoni Travel Group ranks among Europe`s top five travel companies. With operating subsidiaries in over 20 countries in Europe, Asia, North America, and Africa, Kuoni has evolved into a truly global company that employs 7000 specialists around the world. The Kuoni Group is active in both leisure and business travel segments.
TRX, Inc. previously operating as World Travel Technologies, has been providing technology solutions and behind-the-scenes services to the travel industry for more than a decade. The company changed its name and reorganized its operations last March.
TRX, Inc. represents the combination of the business units formerly known as Travel Technologies Group, Online Fulfillment Services and International Software Products.
TRX provides Web-based applications for booking and managing corporate travel including CoRRE, an automated quality-control system that checks airline tickets for accuracy and compliance with travel policies and ResAssist, an on-line self-booking engine that allows corporate employees to book travel from desktop computers.
It is most widely known as the fulfillment service for Expedia.com
and was selected to provide fulfillment for the yet-to-be launched multi-airline Web site Orbitz. Other customers include US Airways, Continental, Woodside Travel Trust and American Express.
The privately held company reported that it generated $58.4 million in revenue last year with 90% of its revenue coming from transaction fees. It is currently in registration for its IPO with Goldman Sachs.
