Goireland.com, Ireland`s largest on-line travel service, today announced a major strategic partnership with expedia.co.uk, a leading UK Internet based travel service.
The agreement marks a significant milestone for goireland.com`s parent company, Travelmad.com, as it makes an aggressive expansion drive into Europe.
The partnership is designed to capitalise on the increasing amount of holiday traffic between the UK and Ireland and the rise in on-line booking among the tourist population.
Ireland is the third most popular holiday destination among UK tourists, according to world tourism statistics. Also, approximately one third of the British population now has access to the Internet and on-line services.
Goireland.com, a wholly owned subsidiary of Travelmad.com, the Internet travel company, has more than 11,000 accommodation outlets listed on its sites, along with car rental services, vacation packages and an on-line genealogy search.
Alister Kidd, Chief Executive of Travelmad.com, said: “This partnership represents a hugely significant step in our overall strategy of expanding our service into the wider European market place”. “More and more Britons are choosing Ireland as a place to come on holidays and through this alliance, we plan to facilitate this trend by providing detailed tourist information for users,” said Mr Kidd.
James Vaile, Managing Director, Expedia UK, said: “With Dublin as the number two destination for the Expedia UK customer, and with many other Irish cities as popular destination points, we`re delighted have this partnership with GoIreland”.
“By offering the excellent range of GoIreland accomodation and holiday services directly from the Expedia.co.uk site, we`re able to provide an even more comprehensive service to our customers,” said Mr Vaile.
