High-Speed Net Takes Flight At Sea-Tac: No “Wires” Attached; Wayport Inc. Enables Pacific-Northwest

SEATTLE - Move over Space Needle… Seattle`s latest attraction is wireless Internet access available throughout Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, thanks to Wayport Inc., the travelers` choice for high-speed portable Internet service in airports and hotels.
The airport`s new wireless Internet service provides mobile professionals with increased productivity while on the road and eliminates the inconvenience of being out of touch with family and the office. Wayport enables travelers to access the Internet from anywhere in the airport, including gate areas, without connecting to a telephone. The company already provides service at Austin-Bergstrom International and Dallas/Fort Worth International airports, making Seattle-Tacoma International only the third airport in the nation to offer wireless connectivity.
“Life doesn`t slow down just because we`re traveling. Being out of the loop, however temporarily, is an inconvenience that people need not be bothered with in this day and age,” said Dave Vucina, chief executive officer, Wayport Inc. “Our technology ensures travelers the ability to stay in touch in the places they frequent most.”
Using Wayport`s wireless service simply requires a PC and an 802.11b Ethernet card. By clicking on their normal Internet browser, Sea-Tac passengers automatically access Wayport`s sign-on Web page. Through a simple connection process, users can send and receive email, surf the Web and access corporate networks at T1 speeds up to 50 to 200 times faster than standard modem or cellular connections.
“As one of the first airports in the nation to gain the Wayport advantage, we expect travelers will embrace the ease and convenience that constant Internet access without wires affords them,” said Media Officer Bob Parker, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. “Wayport`s service enhances our continual effort to make life easier for the traveler.”
In addition to Wayport`s expanding footprint in airports, the company also provides wireless and wired Internet services for hotels, making Internet connection seamless for travelers. The company currently holds agreements with premiere hotel companies such as Four Seasons, Wyndham, and Sonesta Hotels and Resorts.
