British Airways brings Soccer AM to the skies

British Airways is introducing football highlights and sports magazine shows on a number of long-haul flights, following the boost in interest this summer.

The airline is introducing popular Saturday cable show ‘Soccer AM’ on flights from August 19th.

The thirty minute programme will be loaded weekly to coincide with the latest football news and results.

The airline also hosts a popular weekly ‘Premier League Goals’ programme, showing highlights from the 2014/15 Barclays Premier League, running weekly throughout the season.

In an airline first, the new channel ‘Red Bull Sports’ is also launching on board from September.

It will feature high octane footage from Red Bull Media House’s archives of sport programming ranging from freestyle moto-cross and mountain biking, to surfing and underground cave explorations.

It also includes the recent documentary following BASE jumper Valery Rozov on his incredible expedition from Kathmandu to Tibet, as he attempts to set the record for the highest BASE-jump ever.

Richard D’Cruze, British Airways’ in-flight entertainment manager, said: “We aim to cater to all sports fans with our extensive range of popular programmes.

“Now we offer more choice than ever - from action sports to the nation’s favourite sport, showing on board.

“The Premier League is one of the most respected and followed football leagues.

“Wherever you go in the world, whatever language people speak – they’ve all heard of Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and all the big teams, and we expect this to be a big hit.”

The football highlight’s programmes will be available in the ‘Sport’ section of British Airways’ in-flight entertainment.

British Airways features more than 130 movies, 650 TV shows from around the world and over 400 audio albums and 200 radio shows in its in-flight entertainment systems.
