Britain reports hottest Easter on record

The UK has enjoyed its hottest Easter on records as temperatures climbed to 27.8 degrees on Saturday.

Over 3 million Britons booked travel abroad, with an estimated 1.2 million holiday makers passing through Heathrow, an increase of 2.8 % compared to the previous year.

Meanwhile thousands of people chose to stay at home, opting for a ‘staycationer’ style break, with beaches, tourist attractions and sporting events seeing a surge in visitors.

Bournemouth Tourism revealed that visitor numbers over Easter were typical for an August weekend. Meanwhile Brighton, Blackpool and Scunthorpe resorts have also enjoyed the benefits of increased visitors.

With the royal wedding fast approaching, many Brits have taken extended leave from work so as to enjoy back to back bank holiday weekends.
