bmi regional takes off for Munich from Southampton for the first time

bmi regional’s new eagerly awaited Southampton to Munich flights have launched today.

The new route offers direct jet flights from Southampton to Munich twice daily at business optimised timings and with bmi regional’s codeshare agreement with Lufthansa, passengers can then seamlessly connect to a further 200 global destinations.

Commenting on the route launch, Jochen Schnadt, chief commercial officer at bmi regional, said: “Since we announced the launch of this new route we’ve received excellent feedback from both corporate and leisure customers with a positive volume of early bookings.

“This is bmi regional’s first route out of the south-east of England so we’re excited to bring our high quality performance, service and efficiency to a new audience.

“We already have a very strong route between Bristol and Munich and a number of onward connections from Munich into other European destinations.  This new route further cements our position as a leading European airline for both business and leisure travellers.”

He continued: “Connecting into Munich offers further benefits for our passengers thanks to our codeshare agreement with Lufthansa.

“Passengers will be able to connect to over 200 worldwide destinations and also have the option to check their baggage right through from the departure point to the final destination.”

From today the capital of Bavaria and home of global brands including BMW and Siemens will be served 12 times per week by bmi regional from Southampton Airport.

Munich is a popular destination for business travellers, with the city being one of Germany’s main financial centres and the global headquarters of many iconic global brands.

The new double daily flights will enable enhanced business opportunities between the vibrant business region around the southern English coast and one of Europe’s largest commercial centres.

For leisure visitors, Munich enjoys year round appeal ranging from its famous Oktoberfest, the stunning English Garden and of course the spectacular Christmas markets.

Munich is also the ideal gateway to plenty of holiday opportunities year round in the nearby Bavarian and Austrian Alps, including skiing and hiking, or a romantic escape to one of the beautiful fairy-tale castles and numerous lakes for which the area is renowned.
