Birlenbach takes sales role with Lufthansa

Heike Birlenbach has been appointed Lufthansa German Airlines’ vice president sales and services Europe.

Birlenbach is presently head of cabin management in Munich and will take up the new role on March 1st, 2014.

Based in Frankfurt, she will be responsible for the Lufthansa passenger airline organisation in Europe.

Her remit will cover sales, marketing and airport operations.

Birlenbach will report directly to Jens Bischof, chief commercial officer and member of the Lufthansa German Airlines Board.

She joined Lufthansa in 1990.

After holding several posts at the Frankfurt station whilst studying tourism and economics, she moved to the sales organisation in 1994 where global key account management numbered among her responsibilities.

In 1999, she was appointed general manager marketing and sales support Europe, based in London.

Subsequently, from 2002 she was in charge of the airline’s organisation in the Benelux countries, based in Amsterdam.
