Bath Tourism Plus welcomes new link with Switzerland

Bath Tourism Plus is very pleased to welcome a new flight into Bristol Airport from Switzerland.  The new Helvetic Airways service, which will begin on 5 December 2011, aims to attract more leisure and business visitors into the area.

Bath currently welcomes 11,000 visitors from Switzerland a year and it is hoped that the new route into Bristol Airport will make it easier and more appealing for visitors to come to the city.

David Jackson, head of marketing at Bath Tourism Plus says: “We’re very pleased to hear about the new flight from Zurich to Bristol.  Switzerland is a growing European market for Bath with visitor numbers doubling over the last three years.  We hope that with easier access direct into the area, more Swiss visitors will be encouraged to come and explore the city and the surrounding area, both for leisure and business reasons”.

Flights linking the south west with the Swiss financial centre will operate three times a week. The new service will link businesses across the region to one of Europe’s major financial centres.  Zurich is home to the world’s fourth biggest stock exchange and is a centre for banking and insurance, pharmaceuticals, and high technology industries, as well as the world’s largest gold trading market.

Since January 2011, the visitbath.co.uk website has received over 8,000 visits from people in Switzerland researching about the city.  In addition, Bath Tourism Plus has almost 1,000 Swiss contacts on the company’s consumer database that are regularly updated with news and events.
