Bahrain International Airport welcomes first Pegasus flight

Bahrain International Airport has welcomed the first scheduled flight of Pegasus Airlines into the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Turkey’s low-cost carrier has officially commenced operations as of this month, providing BIA with a new route to add to its portfolio.

Pegasus Airlines will operate three weekly flights to Bahrain International Airport on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and will be flying out of Bahrain and back to Istanbul via Sabiha Gokcen Airport on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

The airline will provide the Kingdom with easy connectivity to 11 destinations within Turkey which include: Adana, Izmir, Bodrum, Antalya, Diyarbakir, Dalaman, Ankara, Elaziğ, Hatay, Trabzon Van, and 33 international destinations across major European cities such as Barcelona, Milan, Rome, Frankfurt, Hamberg, Munich, Paris and London to name a few.

Mohammed Khalil, vice president of commercial and marketing at Bahrain Airport Company, commented on the Pegasus’s first landing in Bahrain and the benefits of this new route: “We are happy to welcome Pegasus’ first flight into Bahrain International Airport; Bahrain is the airline’s eighthen destination in the Middle East and we are confident that it will help spur tourism and bolster business activities between the two countries.

“The new route reiterates BAC’s commitment to further expand BIA’s network and provide passengers with connectivity options and ease of access to the rest of the world,” he added.

BAC is the authority responsible for enhancing BIA and increasing the airport’s contribution to the local economy in line with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.

In its operational role, BAC is responsible for elevating the airport’s operations, infrastructure and services.

This is set to improve BIA’s capabilities and cater to the growing number of passengers as well as the changing demands of stakeholders.
