BA003 to take off next week

British Airways’ exclusive all business class service from London City to New York goes twice-daily next week.

The second of two Airbus A318s specially bought for the new route goes into commercial service on Tuesday, October 13.

The second service means that in addition to the BA001 departure at 12.50, customers can now leave from London City late afternoon on the BA003 at 16.00 and arrive at New York’s JFK airport in the evening at 20.25.

The additional return flight will allow customers to depart from JFK at 21.50 on the BA004 Club World London City sleeper service, which gets them into London City at 10.25 with plenty of time for late morning meetings.

Each of the two aircraft have been uniquely configured to seat just 32 customers in fully-flat beds in a cabin specially designed to feel spacious and contemporary.

Richard Tams, British Airways’ head of UK and Ireland sales, said: “The delivery of our second A318 means we can now offer customers increased flexibility between the heart of the world’s two largest financial centres.

“Our unbeatable twice-daily service, specially tailored for business travellers will give them even greater choice to enjoy the unique experience that only Club World London City can offer.”

Customers on the new service are the first transatlantic travellers to be able to send emails, texts and use the internet via an in-flight mobile communications service, provided by OnAir.

In addition, when they land at JFK Airport, they are treated as domestic arrivals having already cleared US customs and immigration during a brief refuelling stop at Shannon Airport in the west of Ireland.

For the first time at London City, customers are also able to use kerbside check-in for flights to New York.

And for increased convenience, customers can check-in at the Docklands airport just 15 minutes before departure or arrive early to enjoy the new dedicated lounge, designed in the same style as Terminal 5, with a selection of drinks, snacks and free wifi available.

In-flight dining has also been developed in partnership with Roast restaurant, based at London’s Borough Market, to draw upon their expertise to create menus that feature the best of British produce and regional specialities.

Arriving customers into London City can also enjoy complimentary Health Club access at the London Marriott, West India Quay to freshen up before heading into their office or continuing their journey.
