Avianca and TACA reports 11.9% increase in passenger numbers in June

During the first six months of 2012 the airlines that comprise the holding company transported nearly 11 million passengers, a rise of 13.8% compared to the first half of 2011.

In the month of June, AviancaTaca Holding S.A. transported 1.9 million passengers in the aircraft of Avianca, TACA and its subsidiary airlines. This figure is an 11.9% increase on the number of passengers transported on the airlines’ routes compared to the same period in 2011.

During the same month, the ASK capacity (available seats per kilometer flown) rose by 9.7%. As a result of these figures, the global load factor stood at 80%.

Domestic Markets of Colombia, Peru and Ecuador
In June, the subsidiaries of AviancaTaca Holding S.A. recorded an 18.6% year-on-year increase on the number of passengers transported in markets within Colombia, Peru and Ecuador. ASK capacity in these markets grew by 24.8%, resulting in a 3.4 percentage point improvement in the load factor, which rose to 81.4%.

International Market
During June 2012, Avianca, TACA and the other subsidiaries of AviancaTaca Holding S.A. increased the number of passengers transported internationally by 3.9% compared to the same month in 2011. ASK capacity in these markets grew by 7.6%. The load factor was 79.6%.

January-June 2012: Almost 11 million passengers flew with Avianca and TACA
In the January-June 2012 period Avianca, TACA and the subsidiaries that comprise AviancaTaca Holding S.A. transported a total of 10,910,928 passengers on the group airlines’ domestic (Colombia, Ecuador and Peru) and international routes, registering a 13.8% increase in passenger numbers in the first half of the year compared to January – June 2011.
