With the cooperation of Austrian Airlines and Air Malta, the two airlines are creating clear benefits for passengers: in the first stage of the cooperation, Air Malta flights have been better harmonised with the flight schedule of Austrian Airlines. Flights to and from Malta now connect perfectly with the Austrian Airlines transport hub of Vienna. As a result, Austrian passengers will find good transfer connections to Malta, while passengers from Malta travelling in the opposite direction will also be provided with a range of good connection options in Vienna, to and from continental Europe and to Austrian long-haul destinations. This helps passengers to save valuable time on their journey and gives them access to an enlarged network.
The cooperation will then be deepened further from August 1st onwards: under a new codeshare agreement, it will be possible to buy Air Malta flights at Austrian Airlines, while Austrian flights to Budapest, Gothenburg, Helsinki and Sofia will also become available through Air Malta. The offer for passengers becomes more attractive as a result, while flights to the destinations mentioned will be bookable at a single point of sale. The cooperation is also beneficial for the airlines involved, since the load factor of the flights offered will rise.
Christina Debbah, Vice President Global Sales & Distribution, said the following: “I am very pleased about the cooperation with Air Malta. Together, we can offer our passengers a strong product. The Austrian hub of Vienna is Europe’s fastest transfer airport, and we fly from Vienna to 105 European destinations.”
Brock Friesen, Chief Officer Commercial of Air Malta said, “Through this agreement, we are offering our clients seamless travel connection to destinations in Northern Europe. We are pleased that with this partnership we are offering both leisure and business customers access to a strong route network and growing range of destinations in Northern and Eastern Europe. Air Malta is continuing to enhance its codeshare list of partners with quality airlines to increase and improve its destination network
