Ash cloud halts Australia flights

Hundreds of passengers are facing travel disruption after a volcanic eruption in Indonesia sent ash clouds over the region, forcing airlines to cancel flights to and from Northern Australia.

Mount Sangeang Api erupted on Friday, throwing plumes of ash towards Australia.

Qantas, Jetstar and Virgin Australia have all been affected, while services between Australia and the province of Bali have also been hit.

Other airports are expected to become affected in the coming days.
