APD rise will push travellers towards domestic breaks, says Hotels.com

Hotels.com has said the rise in Air Passenger Duty from Monday could lead to travellers opting for “staycations” over the coming year.

Nigel Pocklington, VP of Global Marketing & Strategy at Hotels.com, said:

“The hike in APD will push travellers to look for better value at home. We’d expect more searches for hotels within the UK as passengers put off by the higher cost of flying opt for a “staycation” over the coming year in order to save money. You can expect to see rising domestic demand for hotels, especially at weekends, in areas including The Cotswolds, Lake District, Scotland, Wales and Cornwall.”
