Anantara Resorts Maldives resorts scoop top green certification

Anantara Resorts has proudly achieved Green Globe Certification for its two resorts in the Maldives’ South Male Atoll, Anantara Dhigu Resort & Spa and Anantara Veli Resort & Spa.

The duo joins the luxury hotel operator’s latest Anantara Kihavah Villas deluxe sanctuary in a hat trick achievement.

The exclusive Naladhu Maldives resort, managed by Anantara Resorts, has also been awarded this status under Green Globe’s standards.

Green Globe Certification is the travel and tourism industry’s worldwide hallmark for sustainability and this recognition highlights Anantara Resorts’ sincere commitment to operating in an environmentally, socially and culturally responsible manner through a broad spectrum of initiatives in the Maldives.

Commenting on this achievement Anantara Dhigu, Anantara Veli and Naladhu Maldives general manager, Claudia Pronk, said: “On no other location on earth can the impact of climate change be seen so dramatically and therefore we are immensely proud to be the first resort operator in the Maldives to have all our resorts Green Globe Certified.

“As a wide-reaching operator in the Asia Pacific region and beyond Anantara is committed to sustainable tourism operations through the integration of social and ecological responsibilities into our core business operations and to this end the company has set a target to achieve Green Globe Certification at all its resorts.

“I cannot think of a more pertinent destination than the greatest paradise on earth to kick start this ambitious commitment.”

Anantara’s Maldives resorts incorporate all aspects of Green Globe standards in their daily operation, principally in environmental conservation such as water, energy and waste management efficiency.

The resorts support their local communities and environment through corporate social responsibility programmes, and promote the islands’ social and cultural heritage through resort and local island experiences.
