Anantara Dhigu Resort Scoops WTA win

Anantara Dhigu Resort and Spa, Maldives has been awarded as the Maldives’ Leading Villa prize at the prestigious World Travel Awards Gala Ceremony held in Johannesburg.

Hot on the heels of making Travel and Leisure’s top 500 resorts in the world earlier this year; Anantara Dhigu Resort & Spa is making its mark in the global tourism arena as one of the top destinations for holiday makers worldwide.

Set in the idyllic archipelago of the Maldives, the resort is a luxurious five-star boutique hideaway spread across five acres of tropical terrain on Dhigufinolhu (island) on the South Male Atoll and is conveniently located only 30kms from the Maldivian capital of Male.

The World Travel Awards serve to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry and this year, a phenomenal 183,000 industry professionals participated in the voting process.

Ms Claudia Pronk, general manager, Anantara Dhigu said of the award: “It is an honour to collect such a respected award and be recognized by our peers in the travel industry.

“This award is for all the staff members who have worked so hard and are totally committed to giving our guests a true indigenous island experience with five star accommodation and service.”

The resort has 68 deluxe beachfront villas, two deluxe beachfront pool villas, 38 deluxe over water suites and two deluxe over-water pool suites all set around a natural, private lagoon.

The villas range from 120sq metres and 165 sq metres in size.

Each deluxe beachfront villa is elegantly furnished in soft beige tones with accents of colours from turquoise to cobalt blue that mirror the vibrancy of the surrounding natural environment; from the pristine sand to the invitingly warm waters of the sea just footsteps away from every villa.

King size beds are positioned to take advantage of the mesmerizing ocean view with distinctive floor-to-ceiling timber-framed glass doors and decorative furnishings include a four-poster, canopied daybed and John Underwood ceiling fans.

The villas also feature Bathhouse garden courtyards with both a rain shower and the signature Anantara ‘made for two’ terrazzo bathtubs.

Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas, is a leading developer and operator of luxury resorts and spas owned by the Thailand-based Minor International.
