American Express Middle East enhances partnership with Gulf Air to turn points into miles

In its continuing effort to reinforce and enhance the longstanding partnership with Gulf Air, American Express® Middle East announced today the latest of its exciting offers with Gulf Air. Under the new offer, Gulf Air Frequent Flyer members residing in Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and the UAE can get from 12,000 to 48,000 Membership Rewards Points upon successfully applying for an American Express® Card. These points can be then redeemed for a unique range of rewards including free flights, hotel accommodation, car hire, and exciting new merchandise.

Existing American Express Middle East Cardmembers will also continue to benefit from the partnership with Gulf Air, as it enables them to convert their Membership Rewards points into Gulf Air Frequent Flyer Miles, earning one mile for every two Membership Rewards points. These miles are then turned into free flights and upgrades on the Gulf Air network.

Deepak Jain, Vice President, Merchant Acquiring and Strategic Partnerships, American Express Middle East, said: “This initiative is part of American Express Middle East ‘s ongoing commitment to strengthen our existing relationships with our long term partners in the region and offer relevant benefits and services that support our Cardmembers’ lifestyles. We are delighted to be able to work with Gulf Air to bring this offer, which represents great value for both American Express and Gulf Air Frequent Flyer members, to the market.”

While this is the latest in many joint initiatives, the two companies have a long history of working together. Gulf Air was one of the first airline partners on board the American Express Middle East Membership Rewards programme when it was launched in 1996.

Commented Gulf Air Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Kyle Haywood: “Gulf Air is pleased to join hands with American Express in launching this promotion, which is a winning combination. With this joint promotion, our Frequent Flyer Programme members from the GCC region will have access to a host of American Express Cards’ benefits and incentives.

“Our Frequent flyer programme, which was launched more than a decade ago, is one of the few customer-oriented incentive programmes offering generous loyalty schemes and benefits to our customers,” Mr. Haywood concluded.
