American celebrates 30 years flying to London

This May, American celebrates 30 years of flying from London to Dallas, USA. The first flight took place five days after the US government had approved nonstop Boeing 747 services from Dallas/Fort Worth to London.

Now, in 2012 - through American’s partnership with British Airways - the company offers 70 daily flights between North America and the UK (Manchester and London/Heathrow).


Inaugural flight facts

·      289 passengers: 26 First Class, 40 Business and 330 Main Cabin seats
·      In First and Business class, the wine selection included Graves ‘79, Chateau d’Aigueville ‘78 and Piper Heidseick champagne. Plus two English bottled beers - Bass and Watney’s


London Heathrow check-in relocation, 31st May
Coinciding with the anniversary, there is a brand-new American check-in area at London Heathrow in Zone F, operating from 31st May 2012. In addition, American customers will be able to use all of the self check-in machines in zones F and G. Premium customers will continue to use the flagship check-in located in front of the terminal.

Booking opening for the brand-new 777-300ER, 27th May 2012
Booking seats to fly aboard American’s brand-new and revolutionary Boeing 777-300ER is opening on AA.com from 27th May 2012 for travel from London Heathrow to Dallas/Fort Worth from 31st January 2013. Five daily flights from LHR – DFW from 15th June 2012
On Friday 15th June, American will introduce a fourth seasonal flight between London/Heathrow and Dallas/Fort Worth. Accompanied by a code-share flight with British Airways, there will be a total of five daily flights to reach the cosmopolitan Texan city, with onward connections to the US, Central and South America.
