On December 6, 2013 Mr. Serik Amirov, Director of BIE and EXPO participants cooperation Department of JSC “NC “Astana EXPO-2017”, met with His Excellency Manne Wangborg, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, issues of bilateral relation between two countries in the context of International specialized exhibition EXPO 2017 were discussed. She Swedish diplomat expressed the willingness of his country to participate in the Exhibition in full scale.

Department Director informed His Excellency about on the current Company’s activity, and of the Chicago-based Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture (AS+GG), which has been announced recently as winner of a major design competition for World EXPO-2017 in Astana. There will be some small changes made, including the experience of previous international exhibitions in purpose of getting more effective legacy of EXPO 2017. After EXPO, the facilities will be used for hosting big international events, like conferences and forums. Part of facilities will be transferred to research and new technology centers.

Mr. Amirov also said, that the EXPO city itself will be one of the examples of the Third industrial revolution will use of alternative energy sources.

Therefore, taking into account the fact, that the organisers has as a main task to demonstrate innovations and technical progress, the experience of Swedish companies in the field of new technologies would be very useful in the stage of Exhibition preparation and post use of exhibition facilities as well.

Department Director added that during preparation process, the organisers will conduct serious activity on development of tourism cluster, it is planned to get many foreign tourists, including Swedish ones, in this connection the experience of this northern country would be of great interest for our country.
In conclusion, parties have agreed to continue fruitful cooperation within preparatory stages of hosting Expo 2017.
