Niel Alobaidi will be taking up the position of chief executive of Newmarket Holidays in September.

Alobaidi is currently managing director of Emirates Holidays in the UK and will become the first person to hold the role with Newmarket.

Following an ongoing technology transformation and re-structure of the company, the appointment is an important milestone and a significant next step in the implementation of Newmarket’s strategic plan, the company said in a statement.

“The board believe they have found just the right person, with a very impressive track record in travel, to take the company on the next stage of its exciting journey.

“Under his leadership, over the past four years, Emirates Holidays has enjoyed an unprecedented period of growth,” added a statement.

Prior to his current position at dnata-managed Emirates Holidays, Alobaidi enjoyed an impressive career in travel, with senior management roles within TUI and First Choice.

Newmarket Holidays, which was founded in 1983, currently employs 145 staff at its Wallington headquarters, with operations throughout Europe and across the globe.

The tour operator is known for its wide range of escorted touring and cruise holidays.
