A 10,764sq ft (1,000sq m) spa designed by the Milan-based interior architect Piero Lissoni is to open at the end of August 2010 at the Mamilla Hotel in Jerusalem, Israel.

Called the Akasha Wellbeing Retreat and Spa and located less than a mile from Jerusalem’s Old City walls, the facility has been created as a core component of the hotel’s experience.

The spa’s design incorporates feng shui principles to create a warm and relaxed atmosphere. One of the standout features is a music meditation room, which mixes changing sounds, lights and images that are aligned with the elements, or forces, of feng shui. Other facilities include watsu pools, hammams, an organic bar and a Technogym-equipped gym.

Treatments integrate Western and Eastern practices with natural healing techniques and are conducted under the guidance of Akasha’s director, Guy Nadler. A range of tailored, individual programmes are also offered while therapies use Pevonia products.

Mamilla Hotel is part of the Alrov Luxury Hotels collection, a subsidiary of the Tel Aviv-based real estate company Alrov. Details: www.mamillahotel.com
