Airbnb launches long-term deal with KLM

After the success of the KLM aircraft apartment competition, KLM and Airbnb have announced that they will be entering into a long-term partnership.

To mark the start of the collaboration, KLM and Airbnb created a competition to win a stay in a KLM aircraft apartment at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, with three lucky winners staying in the KLM plane apartment.

A couple from Rotterdam, together with their four-year-old twin boys, experienced the interior of a real plane for the first time; a couple from Rome celebrated their stay and the husband’s birthday by cooking in the plane galley; and two young ladies from Jamaica and the United States were happily reunited in Amsterdam after several years apart, for a break in the plane apartment.

The long-term partnership between KLM and Airbnb will allow KLM website users to search for accommodation on Airbnb when they book their KLM flight.

KLM has also created an inspiring travel guide which showcases Airbnb accommodation in over 600 destinations around the world.

Early next year, these unique places to stay will also be available on the homepage of KLM’s website.

Martijn van der Zee, senior vice president e-commerce of Air France-KLM said: “Airbnb and KLM both connect people around the world and our product portfolios are complimentary.

“Since both companies share a passion in offering their customers an inspiring travel experience, it made perfect sense to join forces.”
