Narrabri’s Mayor, Robyn Faber said she was “delighted with this important announcement which will help boost our local economy by bringing new visitors to our region and giving our communities access to an important part of Narrabri’s social, educational and corporate landscape”.

The Mayor also said: “The weekend service to Newcastle will provide direct access to John Hunter Hospital, community hospital for Northern New South Wales. The service will also appeal to Narrabri’s sport enthusiasts allowing them to have weekend breaks to attend major sporting events”.

Aeropelican’s decision to introduce services to Brisbane, corporate hub for the Resources industry and Newcastle, one of the largest coal exporting ports in the world is in direct response to the growth and activity in the Resources sector.

Eastern Star Gas Managing Director David Casey said: “This is a vote of confidence in Narrabri’s economic future.  Good air services are vital to attracting more jobs and investment for this region; it will immediately deliver benefits for our company.  Our Brisbane-based staff, who regularly visit our operations at Narrabri, currently fly via Sydney so a direct link is very welcome. We wish Aeropelican every success with the new routes.”
Mr Casey said the Newcastle link would also be important as Eastern Star Gas progresses its planned liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility at Newcastle.

Fabrice Binet, Business Development Manager for Aeropelican said: “The introduction of our new air services between Narrabri and Brisbane and Newcastle will not only be good for the region from an economic point of view, but it will greatly enhance social and economic inclusion and also make the region more attractive to inward investment.”

In line with this expansion we are dedicating an aircraft as well as night stopping a number of crews in Narrabri.

“The expansion of our Narrabri network is testimony to the commitment of the Council and Aeropelican to developing air access for passenger and freight to important state and regional hubs” Binet concluded.
