Accor steps up its expansion in Turkey

Two new Novotel hotels and two new ibis hotels were opened in the Turkish cities of Gaziantep and Kayseri at the beginning of 2010.

Accor, which already has 4 hotels in Turkey (Novotel Istanbul, Novotel Trabzon, ibis Istanbul, ibis Eskisehir), continues to expand there and has again chosen to develop though its Novotel and ibis brands.

Gaziantep and Kayseri, strategic city locations
Gaziantep and Kayseri are both crossroads of significant economic and industrial activity in Turkey and appropriate locations for hotel expansion.
- Kayseri is both a business and a leisure destination. On the one hand it is an important industrial center in Anatolia and on the other it is located in the Cappadocia region, which is a well-known tourist site famous for its lunar landscapes scattered with volcanic formations and for its fifth century byzantine churches.
- Gaziantep attracts business travellers because it is Turkey’s cotton capital and has become the country’s port of entry by road from the Middle East ever since the frontier with Syria was reopened. It is also a tourist destination with attractions including a forest national park, mosques, public bath houses and museums.

Novotel and ibis, Accor’s chosen brands for expansion in Turkey
Novotel, Accor’s midscale brand, is designed to cater for both leisure and business travellers. ibis, the European leader in economy hotels, offers business and leisure customers the best value for money in its market sector.  The international reputation and acknowledged know-how of both brands make them the best suited in the group’s portfolio to fulfil its current ambitions in Turkey.

Accor’s next scheme in Turkey is a new ibis in Bursa due to open in 2011.
