At the Hanover Fair, ABB is showcasing metal-oxide lightning arresters directly cast in silicone. They protect fixed installations and rolling stock in alternating-current (AC) and direct-current (DC) railway facilities.

The high-performance metal-oxide lightning arresters from ABB provide numerous advantages. In both their electrical and mechanical design, they have been conceived for the particularly stringent requirements of railway operations, thus assuring the power supply without which railways cannot operate. The DC railway lightning arresters also meet the requirements for A1/A2 function laid down in VDV Guideline 525. The hybrid-construction low-voltage limiters prevent impermissible touch voltages.

At the same time, all requirements for equipment overvoltage protection are complied with.
