Abacus International strikes deal with low-cost carrier Mihin Lanka

Abacus International has announced a new agreement with Sri Lanka-based low-cost carrier Mihin Lanka.

Owned by the government of Sri Lanka, Mihin Lanka will provide Abacus-connected travel agents access to the airline’s entire published inventory of flights and fares.

Operating from Colombo, Mihin Lanka offers scheduled services to various destinations in the Indian sub-continent, the Middle East and the Far East.

The carrier plans to expand further with flights to Manila and additional destinations in the Indian Sub-Continent during this summer 2012.

The airline is also looking to add additional aircraft in their growth efforts across the region.

“With a vast travel agency network and extensive Asia footprint, Abacus will provide us with an important distribution channel that will help make Mihin Lanka more accessible to travellers,” said Kapila Chandrasena, chief executive, Mihin Lanka.

“Abacus is a valued distribution partner and will become even more so as we expand further in the region.

The agreement, which takes effect today, provides Abacus-connected agents full access to the most up-to-date routes and fares from Mihin Lanka.

“We at Abacus are committed to bringing the best content to our travel agents in an efficient manner,” said Ho Hoong Mau, division head of Airline Distribution of Abacus International.

“We are pleased to add Mihin Lanka to our impressive list of customers and look forward to supporting Mihin Lanka’s distribution needs during this exciting phase of its growth.”
