13 killed in Nigeria charter plane crash

Up to thirteen people have died after a charter plane suffered engine failure and crash-landed at Lagos airport in Nigeria shortly after take-off.

The Associated Airlines plane, which took off at 09:30 local time from the domestic terminal at Lagos’s Murtala Mohammed International

Airport was travelling to Akure, 140 miles north-east of Lagos.

There were 20 people on board the plane including 13 passengers and seven crew.

Six people survived the crash and were taken to hospital with serious injuries, according to reports. One person still remains unaccounted for.
