Regine Sixt picks up the Special Charity Award 2013

Erich and Regine Sixt have welcomed guests to their annual ITB Berlin party for the twentieth consecutive year, with one thousand executives from across the tourism sector in attendance.

Under the headline ‘The Night Winners Meet’, the event also welcomed 60 country manages from the Sixt brand. 
Entertainment on the evening was provided by special guest star Heino.

The German music legend wowed the audience with a selection of his greatest hits as well as a number of legendary cover versions.

As always the party was for a good cause with donations collected for the Children’s Aid Foundation, founded by Regine Sixt.

The main purpose of the foundation is the worldwide improvement of humane living conditions for children.

Her work with the organisation was recognised on the night a special presentation from World Travel Awards.

Founder Graham Cooke was on hand to present Regine Sixt Children’s Aid Foundation with the Special Charity Award 2013.

The foundation is modelled after the UN’s Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Divided into four program areas including health, care, education and emergency aid, it supports projects of third parties and takes on its own initiatives in order to achieve the defined objectives.

Since the establishment of the Children’s Aid Foundation over ten years ago, numerous relief projects inland and abroad have been successfully implemented.

By providing health care, educational and living solutions, many little tears have been dried.

Together with Sixt and its highly engaged employees in over one hundred countries, the Regine Sixt Children’s Aid Foundation has developed into a relief organisation that makes the impossible possible.

Regine Sixt explained: “For me the work is never done; my commitment to needy children has the same importance for me as the work of the foundation.

“I am very pleased with the great appearance of Heino and the generous donations of our many guests this year.

“They have helped to re-conjure a smile on the face of the children in need.

“I would like to thank you with all my heart.”

ITB Berlin

After the party many representatives from Sixt took part in the world’s largest travel trade fair, ITB Berlin.

A particular highlight was the new counter design presented by Sixt at its main stand in Hall 9.

Here Sixt partners and visitors have the opportunity to learn about the latest products from the brand.

Speaking to Breaking Travel News at the party Regine Sixt added: “I look forward every year to the great atmosphere and the international flair of the ITB.
