Travel broadcaster Phil Blizzard says the place be be this Friday is the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre for the Party in the Park as What’s On magazine Celebrates 35 Years.
What’s On magazine, published by Motivate has announced the complete artist line-up with UK pop princess Lily Allen will headlining the festival, supported by ex-Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft. Brit chart-toppers The Ting Tings and cult South African band, Freshlyground will also be performing on the main stage.
In addition the Hype Clubhouse will feature a showcase of ten of the best underground clubs and resident DJs in Dubai. Jixo b2b Gabriel Floriani of Blue Marlin UAE, Mr Mr b2b Raxon from Audiotonic and Lobito Brigante b2b Frezidente of Deep Crates Cartel amongst many others, will unite for the first time ever and play back-to-back sets.
Elsewhere in the sprawling grounds the Good Garden acoustic stage will focus on a slightly more relaxed vibe with soul legend Adam Baluch headlining.
In addition to all the varied entertainment, Party in the Park will play host to Dubai’s first festival brunch, a brand new concept for the Emirates with the brunch deck being hosted by McGettigan’s. This much loved international Irish bar chain, will have the prime viewing position of the main stage and will offer unlimited food and beverages from 2-5pm.
Ian Fairservice founder of Motivate publishing told me “Party in the Park promises to be unlike anything Dubai has ever seen before”. He also said “I am delighted that the Motivate titles What’s On, Good, Hype and Hello! are all joining forces with their retrospective areas at the event itself. “
For me, it will be a Bittersweet Symphony to see Richard Ashcroft performing with his imitable verve at what is one of the finest music venues in Dubai.
