Palmyra sets new style precedent in Jamaica

Palmyra sets new style precedent in Jamaica

Whilst the brand new Montego Bay Convention Centre has been the talk of Caribbean Marketplace 2011, Jamaica’s most famous tourist area has also recently become home to another iconic development. Opened during last summer, the towering Palmyra Resort & Spa is the vision of real estate mogul Bob Trotta, and has set a new style precedent on the island.

Typifying Jamaica’s renaissance as a hip tourism destination, The Palmyra Resort & Spa has become the first luxury condo hotel to be located directly on the pristine waterfront in Rose Hall, Montego Bay.

The resort forms part of the Palmyra Development, an exclusive enclave that has quickly established itself as a complete leisure and business destination in its own right, incorporating the Montego Bay Conference Centre, first class shopping and outstanding amenities.

The Palmyra is managed by Solis Hotels & Resort, and has been carefully crafted to appeal to discerning, well-travelled guests, a concept, which combines a new sense of luxury with superior customer service.

The Palmyra offers facilities, service, amenities, food and beverage and entertainment to please the most fastidious guests, setting a new standard in hospitality.

General Manager Lester Scott, says: “The Palmyra provides an atmosphere in which residents feel special to live and guests will wish they lived!”

Unrivalled luxury
Launched by legendary hotelier and former president of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, Horst Schulze, Solis Resorts & Hotels is a new luxury hotel brand that includes a collection of resorts, hotels and residences offering a convergence of unparalleled designs, settings and experiences.

The Palmyra Resort & Spa sits grandly along 16 oceanfront acres on the grounds of a former Jamaican plantation with 299 rooms with ocean views located across three towers. This magnificent resort features guestrooms as well as one, two and three bedroom suites along with luxurious penthouses designed to pamper the most discerning guest.

Eleven three-story villas and 8 beachfront cabanas round out the distinctive accommodations offerings found only at The Palmyra. All accommodations have been designed with the most high-end features and design touches – from marble countertops in the bathrooms, to flat screen televisions in the living areas, along with Bosch appliances in the suite kitchens.

Beautiful beaches with the planet in mind
More than US$3.5 million has been invested in the creation of an environmentally friendly, natural ecosystem and the preservation of existing marine life on The Palmyra coastline. 23,000 sq.ft. of marine sea grass and 97 coral heads including finger coral, star coral, starlet, hill and fire corals have been relocated offshore to enable dredging of the bottom to provide a clear, sandy swimming beach.

White powdery sand, and the turquoise water of the Caribbean invite you to a day at the beach while the stunning oversized pool and Jacuzzi are only steps away for a dip. Beachside amenities include cabanas, restaurant services, refreshments, snorkeling, kayaking and other water sports.

The heart of Jamaica
The Clubhouse, which includes a full service restaurant and bar with plenty of terrace dining, overlooks the elegant palm tree-lined pool, which stretches out to the beachfront promenade. Centrally located between the Sabal and Silver Palm Towers, the Solis team runs activities and fun during the day and into the night for kids and families to enjoy.
