‘Ottoman Opulence’ - A Culinary Tour at Jumeirah Zabeel Saray

Travel broadcaster Phil Blizzard discovers a ‘progressive dinner’  with a difference at the Ottoman inspired resort on Palm Jumeirah.

The culinary tour which takes diners ‘across the Ottoman Empire’ begins at the Plaj restaurant for canapés and a glass of champagne to whet the appetite, accompanied by the cool evening breeze.  Guests then depart this beach side setting, with the sound of gentle ocean waves, to head off to taste cuisine from the wider reaches of the Ottoman Empire. India is the next stop on the tour and the Amala restaurant for the next course -  a selection of cold starters.

Then onto the heart of the Ottoman Empire - Turkey and Dubai’s first Anatolian restaurant with it’s grand stained glass chandelier. Another key feature of the Lalezar Restaurant is the firewood furnace, a focal point as one enjoys the traditional Turkish mezzeh. Then, off to Al Nafoorah for hot mezzeh in a restaurant described as the ‘Soul of Lebanon in the Heart of Dubai’.

At this point the Ottoman Opulence culinary tour is just at the half-way stage! So plenty more delights from the ‘Empire’ to come, with a mouthwatering main course next at the Rib Room!

This 50 year old brand is new to the resort, having opened its doors last November and the main course on the Ottoman Opulence tour will be the ‘piece de resistance’ of this culinary journey. Expect succulent grilled meat, prime cuts and seafood, to be followed by a dessert buffet in the rather elegant Imperium. Inspired by the grand palaces from the Ottoman era this restaurant is the penultimate ‘port of call’ on the tour.

The Sultans lounge terrace provides a relaxing spot to unwind from this culinary sojourn with Turkish coffee or tea,and perhaps a digestif.

Timings for the ‘tour’ are from 19:30 through to 23:oo and reservation scan be made in advance.
