Travel broadcaster Phil Blizzard discovers that the Amwaj Rotana Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai will be hosting a “Concert in the Dark” in support of Earth Hour.
A special unplugged concert is to be held on the outdoor terrace, La Terrazza, as the hotel does its bit for the second consecutive year to support a green, sustainable future.
The “Concert in the Dark” is more than just a concert with acoustic performances from musicians, as there will also be poetry recitals as the lights in the public areas are either switched off or dimmed for 60 minutes from 8.30 until 9.30 p.m.
The Concert in the Dark is open to the public and the hotel encourages volunteers to join in on stage to showcase a talent or just to attend.
Earth Hour is a global effort to emphasize the threat of global warming. It has become a symbolic event highlighting that even small steps can have a large impact and leave a lasting impression on the planet. As a result of this initiative, the hotel aims to increase its energy savings as compared to 2014.
The Amwaj Rotana Hotel is located in the very popular JBR district of Dubai. Amwaj, in Arabic means waves, and JBR is the Jumeirah Beach Residence - a mix of residential apartments, hotels, restaurants, cafes and other leisure facilities in this modern beachside location.
