Breaking Travel News investigates: New hotels in the Caribbean paradise of Turks & Caicos

As Turks & Caicos continues to enjoy international visitor growth for the third year in a row, several new hotel brands have been eying the islands, while existing properties have been expanding and renovating their facilities in order to capture some of the market.

“2011 has seen record visitor arrivals to the TCI. Our islands happily welcomed over one million tourists (cruise and stay-over) to our shores,” explains Ralph Higgs, director of tourism for Turks & Caicos.

“2012 is showing as much promise as 2011 and by year’s end 2012 we expect to see increases over last year. In fact, since 2009, TCI have seen double digit growth annually.”  Higgs added.

In addition to new airlift and a major development taking place at Providenciales International Airport, there has been some renewed interest from hotels in recent months.

“Several major hotel brands have demonstrated strong interest in our islands and very imminently, there will be formal announcements of their projects here in TCI,” explains Higgs.

Ahead of the World Travel Awards Caribbean & The Americas ceremony which is set to take place on September 14th, Breaking Travel News checks in to find out some of the most exciting hotel developments on island.
