I was a little apprehensive about my visit to Temptation Resort in Cancun; nervous and excited at the same time.

Why? Because the website promotes the property as a “Playground for Grown-Ups.”

I was applying its advice by bracing myself for “a whole new level of electrifying, adult vacationing!”

The taxi driver gave me a sneaky smirk as I told him my destination.

On arrival, the exterior of the hotel certainly makes a statement on the Cancun tourist strip.

Their signature ideology - ‘Let’s Play’ - is emblazoned on the side of the space age resort in large letters.

The hotel has only been open for five months after a multi-million dollar refurbishment.

Designer Karim Rashid has created an amazing concept – a sensual hotel.

This theme is followed not only in its design, but also on the activities, entertainment, and food & beverage.

It’s this ideology that guest embrace and take on board, bringing his dream to life.

Rashid’s inspiration was the human body.

The furniture, objects, spaces, materials, and colours of Tempration all work together to give you an experience you wouldn’t get anywhere else.

The seven-story, 428 room superstructure is filled with sensual curves and bright colours, stimulating you with a funky vibe throughout.

This sensual minimalism hits you from the moment you enter the reception area.

It reminded me of a cross between Stanley Kubrick’s 2001 and a 1930’s art deco luxury cruise ship, with soft shapes and curves everywhere.

The rooms have a lovely bright feel to them, with bold oranges, greens, and mauves combined with pop art inspired wall paper.

A minimalist feel is created by the black fluid wall furniture, silver sofas and armchairs.

Everything here feels fluid and sensual.

The tower rooms overlook the small beach and funky pool area, and you also get a glimpse into other people’s rooms – where guests at times seem forgetful closing their shutters…

The lush suites have a Jacuzzi on the balcony if you really want to show off to your neighbours.

All daytime activities take place around the Sexy Pool, named as this is the topless area.

This may not be a big deal for modern Europeans but is quite unusual for the North American market.

Funky music blasts out all day long as a stream of fun games are managed by the animation team.

There are saucy dance competitions, wet T-shirts competitions, whatever tickles your fantasies.

Try not to miss the very popular “wild foam party” on Thursdays.

If the partying and noise gets too much for you, then remove yourself to the Quiet Pool or the amazing rooftop pool and bar, where you can enjoy great views overlooking the Caribbean Sea from cool pod like loungers.

The excitement builds throughout the day, as the all-inclusive drinks get consumed and the activities continue.

By sunset the swim up bar is rammed and everyone is partying.

The atmosphere is very friendly, everyone talks to each other and there is a great diversity of ages and backgrounds.

Temptation appeals to all the senses; therefore, gastronomy is an important part of the resort’s makeover with no less than eight specialised restaurants scheduled to open. 

SHE is the property’s aphrodisiac themed restaurant, each course designed to arouse you.

It’s a set menu with set seating times that needs to be reserved at reception.

The food is excellent; a mix of salmon, duck, and shrimp – all beautifully presented and provocatively named things like Ecstasy, Climax, and Looking Eyes.

The dinner gets rather ‘interactive’ when two pole dancers appear and perform a ten minute show. 

After dinner the party really gets going in Bash, an outdoor club with a raised dance floor - there’s a lot of action here.

Make sure you bring plenty of revealing clothes to get into the sexy party vibe.

It is the perfect place to mix and mingle, as well as “to see” and “be seen” on the property.

The DJ keeps the party going to the early hours.
