Qantas has welcomed the decision by the Australian Licensed Aircraft Engineer’s Association (ALAEA) to cancel its proposed strike action for tomorrow, Friday 16 May, and Friday 23 May.

The Chief Executive Officer of Qantas, Mr Geoff Dixon, said that although the decision had come too late for the airline to reverse the cancellation of its services tomorrow, Qantas was now able to add back capacity and keep disruption to a minimum.

“We had already advised and rebooked passengers travelling on flights tomorrow afternoon, but will now move to add four supplementary Sydney-Melbourne services to restore capacity,” Mr Dixon said.
