More than 14,000 virtual tours from 110 cities and countries worldwide.

Soaring customer numbers has driven travel comparison website travelsupermarket.com up the business charts.

The website has moved up to sixth position in the Hitwise Travel Agency category for February after visitor levels grew to over 3m unique visitors in January.

The increase in traffic follows a multi million pound investment in functionality of the site and is also an early indicator of the success of the website’s £11 million marketing campaign for 2007. The site previously held seventh position in the Hitwise charts.

Chris Nixon, managing director, travelsupermarket.com, said: “We have worked very hard over the last three years and are proud to have achieved this level of exposure for our partner sites, which continue to see increasing numbers of visitors and bookings via travelsupermaket.com with March on target to welcome over 3.5m.

“We have had a huge push on marketing activity this year, including a TV advertising campaign and a seven figure sum investment in the sponsorship of Channel 4’s A Place in the Sun, which is due to run for the rest of the year.”
